Who: Flora Carrow and Alec Dolohov When: Evening Where: Carrow house Summary: awkward times between boyfriend and girlfriend Rating: tbd
The scent of old parchment filled her senses as she lay on top of her comforter. There was something comforting about reading an old book, even if it was about the theory behind spell crafting. Hestia would have been wrinkling her perfect nose at the fact her twin was reading some musty book again. The Carrow twins were supposed to be about fashion and slaying boys, which is why it was Flora that found herself the one being told who to date.
"But I don't want some stupid boyfriend," Hestia snapped as she glared at their father. "I'm popular. Flora said she would do it!"
Flora had looked at her twin in confusion and minor betrayal at the announcement. She had never said she would, but if Hestia had asked? Yes, she would have said yes. She always said yes. She was used to letting her older sister order her around, but this was kind of a new level of pushing her around. It wasn't that she was against getting a boyfriend, but she hadn't really thought about it. Everyone was always dazzled by Hestia's appearance and personality. They flocked to her and Flora was the afterthought. Was this some way to help the calmer twin finally get a relationship?
No.
It was Hestia being Hestia.
"Fine, but you make sure your sister doesn't lose Alec's attention," their father had sighed as if he saw this whole thing falling apart because of the weaker twin.
Flora let the book fall over her face as she tried to ignore memory. Her own father didn't think she would ever get herself a boyfriend on her own. Her moment of self-pity was interrupted by the house elf announcing that Alec was actually downstairs waiting for her. Flora moved the book from her face and tried to figure out why he was even there. She had flooed home for the weekend so how did he even know? She set the book aside before sliding out of the bed so she could go see what her boyfriend wanted. Socked feet went down the stairs silently as she let her hand trail along the banister. The cool wood reminded her of many mornings racing down the stairs at a younger age while her mother yelled about proper behavior for growing ladies. The days of make-believe were long gone.
"How did you know I was here," she asked in lieu of a greeting. Flora reached up and toyed with the end of her messy side braid. Hestia would have been having fits if a boy saw her with anything less than perfect hair. The shorts and faded Weird Sisters shirt probably were a no go as well. Flora didn't actually care that much, she was comfortable and it wasn't like she looked like a complete train wreck.
There was a pause and then she blushed. "I mean hi. Sorry, I was reading a book about spell crafting and I wasn't expecting company. Did you...want something to drink? My parents are out for the evening." She tugged on the braid before motioning with her other hand as if inviting him. "I can get the book and show you if you like? It is written by this old Greek wizard."
There was a reason people flocked to Hestia and not Flora. Her twin often asked how they were both Slytherins when it seemed like Flora should have been a Ravenclaw. The thing though, well, Flora would do anything to protect her family. She'd tear apart people if she had to make sure her sister never cried. She'd date someone she didn't know if it meant her family was happy. No matter the cost.
