Sirius was glad to be outside. Everything felt too cramped up inside. It was good to be laying outside. He had one of his jackets sprawled out on the ground beneath them, and he was just enjoying be able to breathe at the moment. He was half tempted to fish a fag out one of his back pockets, but somehow, he suspected that Alice wouldn't appreciate that.
It wasn't really that he smoked that much. It was just a habit. Sometimes. Every now and then. When he felt like it.
It'd just been a hell of a last few weeks. Some part of him knew that things couldn't last with Andromeda like they had. He'd always felt like their bond was so tenuous after he'd left home. He'd want to keep being friends with her. But he hadn't expected it to work. And then she had tried, and here they were. It had to where he had always expected. He didn't know what was going to happen with this whole arranged marriage business. He wanted to punch Malfoy in his stupid face every time he saw him. Because, yes, Andromeda had refused, but that didn't mean their family wouldn't try to break her -- and they would. Or she would break way.
It was uncomfortable for him to watch. It made him feel angry and frustrated -- and made him remember all too clearly what he had gone through when he had left, and that was something he tried to never dwell on.
He didn't want to spend anymore time thinking about his stupid lack of family. He wanted to be able to enjoy an afternoon with Alice.
