At his compliment, she blushed, and looked away for a moment. "Well, thank you," she said. She bit her lip and look at him again, waiting for his response. When he gave it, it was a half-response, really, and she was just about to call him on it when he leaned in and kissed her.
Alice gave a slight gasp -- not in discomfort or in any way to discourage him, but merely in surprise -- and leaned forward more so that her lips pressed back against his.
