There were a lot of problematic things that Betsy did not dare breathe a word of to Brian. It was all for his own good really. If she went around letting him know about all the twists and turns of what she was involved in, then he'd try to put a stop to it. That wouldn't do. Brian needed to be kept as far away from all of that as possible, safe and secure in his lab. Wisdom was the only living person who knew how deeply she was entrenched in everything, and she didn't even like to admit it to herself most of the time. When she did, it was more of a flippant requirement for a partner in crime than an admission that he was someone she could trust.
I'll go ahead and pencil it into his calendar. Even if she entrusted Brian to pick a date, he'd still forget and she'd have to anyway. Best to go ahead and take the initiative from the get go.
That had not been what she had meant, but Wisdom had given them something of a prime opening as far as both a distraction and then an inevitable blowup. Deciding on the more fun option--at least for the moment--Betsy acted indignant at the kiss and slapped Pete across the face when he turned her loose. Then she stormed off, as everyone would expect her to do, and he would inevitably follow her because, well, for one thing he was her bodyguard. The murmurs around her as she stomped off were encouraging that their act had worked. Honestly I didn't mean that so much as how we're going to get around some of his more sophisticated security traps since I don't want to go full telepath here, but I can't find any fault with your tactics.
