Chris frowned at the potion bubbling away in the cauldron. He turned to look at James. "I'm pretty sure the book said it's supposed to be pale blue." The mixture in question that Chris jabbed an accusing finger towards was a bright cyan.
Sure enough, when he read the notes in his copy of the Potions textbook, it had pale blue underlined and circled with dark red ink. Chris groaned. It wouldn't be the first time they botched a potion. And they didn't exactly have time to restart either. Which means they just had to do the best they could to rectify it.
Retracing their steps, Chris tried to find out what they added extra or didn't add so that he could produce the magical opposite to counter the effects, hopefully rescuing their doomed potion. He worked with grim determination. But of course, even busy, Chris' eyes still wandered over to Oliver's seat every so often.
It was little wonder that they botched their potion, really. With how much attention he was paying to it.
