Eveline's eyes fell to his thumb on her leg, as the feeling itself was almost surreal. She tried to pull her eyes away, but it seemed impossible for the moment. She sighed a little and leaned her head against the back of the couch, her eyes still watching his hands. Perhaps he would think she was mistrustful, but she somehow knew exactly how restrained he was. This was about more than just physical contact, even if she didn't want to admit it, and they both knew nothing good ever came from rushing into things.
If Eveline knew Dominic's real thoughts about her favorite food, she would have melted. And then she would have become incredulous. Dates? Who did he think he was? An actual dating prospect? He needed to remember who they were. Maybe he wasn't any of the other boys she'd haphazardly kissed, but he wasn't Andrew either, and as far as Eveline was concerned, Andrew was the only boy who would have her officially.
Eveline continued to watch the hand which was on her knee, trying her best to avert her eyes from the other hand so she could guess. She wasn't surprised by his response - she knew he loved her hair - but it didn't stop her from smiling at the finality of it. When the question was posed back on her, Eveline looked at him for only a moment before firmly tracing, "S-M-I-L-E A-N-D T-H-I-S." Eveline then took his face in her hands and kissed him softly on the lips, drawing the kiss out by hovering just centimeters away before and after. The kiss made her shiver with delight and she hoped he liked her answer, as it was the truth.
