At her declaration that she liked spending time with him, Casey's cheeks grew warmer. He wished he wasn't so coy with girls, the nervous feeling in his stomach increasing tenfold as Valerie looked at him. Taking a few deep breaths, Casey forced a smile and extended his arms, gently taking her hands in his own.
"I like spending time with you as well," he confessed as he peered down at their hands. The size difference was rather astounding, with her hands feeling awfully fragile and small in his own. It was clichéd to say, but their hands did fit relatively perfectly together. Now wasn't the time to think of hands though. Forcing himself to look up, Casey took a deep breath before continuing, "I know you're probably wondering why I wanted to talk somewhere quieter. I'm not going to hang it out, I'm just going to say it."
It took him several moments to take his own advice and just come out with it. After a particularly steadying breath, Casey smiled shyly at the girl opposite him and said quietly, "Over the past few weeks, we've spent a lot of time with each other and I've come to the conclusion that I really like you. As in, really like you." Sliding his fingers through her own so that they were palm to palm, Casey shrugged a little, "I was wondering if you'd like to be my girlfriend? You can say no, obviously. I know I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to Quidditch and I'm not the smartest or most articulate guy around, but I really do like you, Val."
