"I'm not shocked because it's so predictable!" Casey grinned, knowing that Orna was only joking with him. In all honesty, it was predictable. Although it didn't always happen, there was a very good chance that every group of friends had at least one couple in it. It seemed rather fitting that the two who were always at one another's throats would be the pair to hook up.
Nodding as Orna continued, Casey took a deep breath and looked out over the stadium with a contemplative pout. "To be honest, he probably doesn't even know." Max was his best mate and had been since first year, but for someone so smart, there were a few things that Max Deacon was hopeless at. Noticing the most obvious things around him was one of them. "But if Becca bought him in the auction, he'd just think she was doing it to laugh at him." Looking back at Orna with a half-arsed shrug, he continued, "If Max is going to know anything, we'll have to help him along." As much as he didn't want to get involved in Max's love life, there was a good chance that if he and Orna didn't help him along, he would never know how Rebecca felt about him.
