When they pulled away from this kiss, James was grinning. He'd been grinning since Gwen had kissed him the first time. His face was beginning to hurt, but he didn't think he could stop smiling if he wanted to.
James had felt like he was floating before, but now that he was walking, it was even better. He let Gwen pull him along easily. Even if it were going to end up being a dream, at least James could enjoy it while it lasted.
When they reached the landing where the boys' staircase split from the girls' staircase, James stopped and looked at Gwen. "Goodnight, Gwen," he said quietly, though once again, he didn't move.
