Gwen knew James well enough to see that the other boy was freaked. Not only did his face show his true emotion, but James was still sat in his Quidditch robes. She was sure by now they would have dried, but that didn't stop her from frowning at the prospect of him having a cold. He really didn't look very well and she was more than a little concerned. It was her duty as a friend to keep him company, especially since she wouldn't be sleeping any time soon.
Folding her legs underneath herself, Gwen rose an eyebrow and offered a small smile. "I would ask why you're still up, but that would be a silly question," she said with a hint of humour, trying to coax a smile from him. Not being particularly bothered by the storm outside, she felt relatively calm at the moment. Sure, she was a little annoyed at being woken up from the first peaceful sleep in days, but it couldn't be helped. Now she was awake, she had a new focus.
