Jennifer shifted in her chair, and softly sighed. She looked at the screen in front of her, and read the report again. It was getting toward the end of the month, which meant everyone needed to have their monthly reports in. And since she was the head of her department, she had to go through all the reports her department wrote.
And it was a pain in the ass.
Shifting again, Jennifer continued to stare at the computer screen, the words blurring and blending together. Her mind drifted to John Sheppard, and she smiled. She had liked him a lot and found she liked having him around, even if sometimes they only saw each other because of work. It didn't matter to her. As long as she got to spend time with him.
Shaking her head, Jennifer pulled herself out of her thoughts. She knew she was setting herself up for a fall. John didn't go for girls like her. She was the nerdy type, who hid in the library all day. Plus, almost all the women in the city thought John was handsome. She didn't have a chance.
When she suddenly heard John calling out for her, Jennifer jumped a little and blushed. "I-I'm in my office," she said.
As he stepped inside, she gave him a smile. "Hey," she said, the blush still on her cheeks. "What's up?"
