John nodded when Jennifer said she knew the perfect place for their picnic. He waited by the door while she grabbed the candles, looking at the basket when she mentioned what they were for. "I didn't even think of that," he said. "Guess it's a good thing I have you around."
He tightened his hand a bit around hers and headed up to the balcony with her. Evan gave him a grin when they passed, and John found himself suppressing a groan. Everyone at TISCI was going to know about this in the morning now. He just wondered who was going to take credit for getting him to ask her. Probably Gibbs.
All thoughts of his co-workers were pushed aside, however, once they reached the balcony. He chuckled when Jen pulled out the blanket and raised his eyebrows. So this was where she disappeared to sometimes. Looking around, he could definitely see why she would come up here - the view was amazing.
"I can see that this would be...inspiring," he told her as he put the basket down on the edge of the blanket and started to unpack. A few moments later, though, he found Jen leaning toward him for a kiss, and the napkins slipped out of his hand as he reached up to cup her face. "Hmmmm...I'm really glad I asked you out tonight too."
He caressed his hand over her temple and kissed her again before pulling back. He pulled out the bottle from the basket and held it up.
"Is sparkling wine okay for you?" he asked. "I know some races don't do well with alcohol but I couldn't find anything about Naguals."
