When Jennifer heard her door chime, she took a deep breath and answered it. Her face broke out into a huge grin when she saw John standing there. Looking down at the basket, she nodded. "I haven't been on a picnic in a long time," she said before looking at him again. "And I know the perfect balcony to have a picnic on. I just need to grab something."
Turning around, Jennifer hurried into her bed, and grabbed a small bag. When she came back, she held it up. "Candles to keep the bugs away," she said before stepping closer to John. She tugged him closer, and softly kissed him, not caring if anyone was walking by. "Okay, I'm ready now."
Jennifer took John's hand, and they walked together to the balcony. On the way there, they passed Evan and Laura, and Jennifer found herself softly snorting when Laura gave her the thumbs up. Jennifer was pretty sure Laura was going to tell everyone about what she saw, but she didn't care. John was the most wonderful man in the city, and she wanted the whole universe to know she was with him.
When they got to the balcony, Jennifer let go of John's hand, and sat her bag down on the floor before going over to a secret compartment. She opened it, and produced a blanket. "I like to come here to think, especially when a translation isn't working out the way it should," she explained as she handed the blanket to him.
She then took the candles out of the bag, and set them up on the perimeter of the balcony. Once they were lit, she went over and sat down next to John. "I'm really glad you asked me out tonight," she said with a smile. She then leaned forward, and kissed him.
