John grinned widely when she agreed to 7 p.m. That would give him plenty of time to get things ready as well. He started making a mental checklist of what he'd need to get and take care of before then if this was going to work like he hoped.
"Thanks, Jen," he said. "I'll keep a look out for the translation."
He was just about to stand up when she told him she had something to tell him, so he stayed where he was, leaning forward a bit. As she started talking, he felt his heart thud a few times in his chest. Pushing up from his chair, he circled around her desk and reached over to touch her cheek.
"This isn't just a friendship like you're talking about, right?" he said before kneeling down in front of her. "Well, I think you should know...I really like you too."
