John raised his eyebrows when Jennifer told him the things she would have shown him if he had been with her. He had to admit - that actually sounded really nice, especially considering that most of the interesting places he saw most of the time had some kind of dark taint to them because of some crime or other incident that had occurred. "Maybe you could show me them some other time," he said.
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, he looked down briefly. Way to be assuming, he thought.
Instead, he chuckled at her comment about Tim. "Well, it wasn't his fault. One of the places we were led to by the evidence was bobby trapped. He pushed Allie out of the way and took the brunt of the hit." He shook his head, though, when she mentioned the problems that had been happening elsewhere. "Currently, we're not involved. TISCI using some of their central teams from Earth. I guess they want to keep the information from the investigations as close to home as they can."
It meant a lot to him that she had been worried about him, though. It wasn't something that he really had. Not with his mom gone, and his brother and father not caring where in the galaxy he was. Having someone who cared about him...it felt nice. Especially since it was Jennifer.
So he was glad when she accepted his invitation to have dinner. Though her comment about John-time had him feeling a bit warm again. God, did she even realize what she did to him when she smiled or talked to him like that? Probably not.
"Well, good. I mean...we'll have to make up for that." He already had an idea of what he wanted to do. "How about I come by your place around seven? Will that give you enough time once you leave here?"
