"An orange tabby to be exact," Jennifer said as she shrugged her shoulders. She then looked at him, and shook her head. "You're not boring, John. I would've been nice to have you there. I could've shown you the valley with the river and waterfalls. It's beautiful and peaceful there."
And very romantic but Jennifer wasn't going to add that. It was bad enough she had gotten all the books by John's favorite authors for the library. She really didn't want him to think she was stalking him. If he did, then he probably wouldn't come to see her anymore, and seeing John was always the highlight of her day.
Laughing, Jennifer shook her head. "Poor Tim. How many times has he hit his head in the last month?" she asked with an amused look. "And I'm glad you've been okay. I...thought about you a lot while I was gone. My father had told me there had been some trouble on a couple of planets. I didn't know if your team had investigated it or not, so I was worried about you being hurt."
Jennifer looked down again at the tablet, her cheeks still warm. She had told her mother about John, and she had encouraged her to ask him out. When Jennifer had balked at the idea, Anna had reminded her she was getting to the age where Naguals started to have a heightened sense of sexuality, and feeling the need to find a mate.
Jennifer certainly didn't need her mother to tell her that, especially after some of the dreams she'd had about John.
However, all thoughts of mating were pushed aside when John asked her out for dinner. Jennifer looked up and stared at him for a brief moment before grinning. "I would love to. It'll give me an excuse to get out of the library for a while. Plus, I've missed you, and I'm sorely lacking in my John-time," she said with a soft smile.
