Jennifer's lips formed a slight pout when John confirmed they couldn't play hooky for the day. She knew they couldn't but it still made her sad knowing they were going to spend the day apart. It was silly, especially since John and her spent a lot of time apart due to their work. Before all of this had happened, she only saw him a few hours each day. "Suppose you're right," she said, sticking her tongue out in disgust. "But you, if you aren't busy this--."
Before she could finish her sentence, Jennifer's headset beeped, and she let out a sigh. She really didn't want to answer it but knew she had to. Reaching over John, she picked it up off the bedside table and put it on. It was her assistant Mika, and Jennifer found herself rolling her eyes and pouting some more.
When the call was finished, she took her headset out, and looked at John. "Mika messed up the book shipment that came in last night and ended up grabbing the wrong crates. The library now has Olive's pie supplies, and Olive has our books. Mika is all confused now. I love the girl, and she's family, but sometimes..." Jennifer trailed off and shook her head.
She leaned down again and softly kissed John's lips. "But I'll make it up to you. Come by my office after lunch. There's this really nifty spot in the library we can hide in," she said with a grin before she slipped out of bed and started to gather her clothes.
