"Hey, when you're swamped with reports to read, you eat whatever you can find. And I happened to find a bag of microwave popcorn."
Jennifer gave John a smile, and turned back to her food. When he said he would be honored to come to the dance with her, she grinned. Reaching up, she covered his hand with hers. "Thanks," she softly said.
After giving him a kiss, Jennifer went back to eating as she explained to him what the dance entailed. She told him about the feast and carnival games, and everything in between. The only thing Jennifer didn't tell John about was the naked river swim since it was mostly for single people, and she really didn't like the idea of others seeing John naked.
Soon, they were finished with the main course, and Jennifer sat her plate aside, and picked up the last unopened container. When she opened it, her face broke out into a grin. Inside was two pieces of chocolate cake with whipped chocolate frosting. She remembered briefly mentioning once how it was her favorite dessert, and he had remembered. "You're the most wonderful man I've ever met," she told him before giving him a soft kiss.
Once she had put the pieces of cake on some plates, Jennifer slowly started to eat her piece. As she did, she started to think about how much she liked spending time with John, and how he made her feel special. Jennifer knew she didn't want the evening to end when they were done eating, so she looking over at him, and took a deep breath. "I...do you want to come back to my quarters once we're finished with dessert?" she softly asked him.
It didn't take a genius to know what Jennifer was applying with her invitation. And if John thought it was too soon, Jennifer would be fine with it since she knew she would wait forever for John.
