When Fred leaned up and kissed him, Carson felt himself freeze for a moment as she disappeared into her office. Fred had just kissed him. Reaching up, he touched his cheek as a goofy grin spread across his face.
"See you later, Fred," he said before blinking and realizing he was talking to thin air.
Turning around, he headed back to Accident & Emergency. The rest of the day was actually fairly slow, as though it knew he was looking forward to going off-duty. And of course, a patient came in right before he was supposed to. Figured. But luckily, it was just a sprained wrist, and he was able to take care of her without much problem.
He then headed back to his quarters and changed in a pair of khakis and a shirt. He wondered if he should take some flowers with him. Would that make it seem too much like a date? Was it a date? Finally, he decided to buy her a box of chocolate instead, figuring he could explain it away as something they could share, and he headed to her quarters. Outside her door, he took a deep breath before pressing the door chime.
"Hi," he said when she answered, thinking how beautiful she looked. Of course, he thought she always did, whether she was in her lab coat or casual clothes. He held up the chocolates. "I...erm...thought you might like these."
