Irene was rather good at reading people on most occasions simply by their body language and other non-verbal cues one can easily pick up with a bit of practice. She could tell Deirdre was uncertain about their meeting, or perhaps about the vampire herself? It was difficult to tell exactly but Irene didn't let it sway her in any way. She was an old fashioned girl in many ways and had only been trying to be polite. She hoped, if Deirdre took her up on her offer, that the two of them could build a more familiar repertoire with time and trust.
"Well, I bet you want to know why you're here." She started, crossing her legs and folding her hands comfortably in her lap as she settled back into her chair a bit more. "You've probably heard that I've been asked to serve as Second In Command in this territory. It's a job that requires me to assemble a small team as my private guard and I was very pleased with how you performed during the medical run we were on. I was hoping you might be interested in being head of my guard." It was very much like Irene to not demand things. Making demands never seemed to go hand-in-hand with offering respect. Instead she was sitting here and genuinely giving Deirdre the choice.
"It would, obviously, require a move into the tower and you would be in charge of perhaps four others." She continued on with a smile, making sure the human woman knew what she was getting herself into. "You are, by no means, required or expected to accept if you feel that the position isn't for you. I value honesty and I need to know that I have someone with me that I can trust to speak their mind."
