Word Prompts — A single word, concept, or idea will be presented and players will have to write about the word or concept and use it as the basis or theme of your writing. Examples include ideas and words such as "First Kiss," "Sunset," or "Soda." An explanation or nudge will usually be there to get you going in a certain direction, other times we'll probably just post the word and you can run with it however you want.Challenges & Requirements
Image Prompts — Occasionally we'll post picture prompts. These will either entail a writing prompt based on an image we've posted or we'll create a scenario/situation/raise a question that requires players to post images and possibly explain them. Examples are, "If your character could travel anywhere, where would they go? Post x-number of images and write why they want to go there," or "What was your character's childhood home like? Post an image and explain it."
Media Prompts — These involve music or videos like, "What is your character's favorite song? Why?" Etc., etc.
Challenges — In some instances we'll include a challenge such as a word limit (you can only write the prompt in 150 words or less). Or you can only post 1 image when more than one would probably be better, you can only use a certain genre of music, etc.The Prompt
Requirements — There will only be two requirements for every prompt we post and that's simply to title it appropriately and to tag it with "prompt" in the tags. Prompt participation is always optional. They are never mandatory. In Havenwood, my co-mod suggested at one point that we make participation mandatory and, unfortunately, I had to shoot the suggestion down. I've Modded games before that included writing prompts and I've learned that players will either do the prompts or they won't. Trying to force them to do it is like having a surgeon do major surgery on their patient without knocking them out and expect them to lie still while they cut them open. We all know that ain't gonna happen! The same can be said in this situation which is why you, the players, will always be able to choose whether or not you do them week-to-week. However, we strongly encourage you to try participating at least once. They can be inspirational, helpful, and sometimes help develop your character(s).
If you had to lose one of your senses, what would you choose? Why?
The question is fairly straightforward: If your character was faced with a situation where they had to lose one of their senses, which would they choose to lose and why? What sense do you think your character can do without and still manage their life?
