She flinched at the accusation, guilt flooding through her. David wasn't hurt but he easily could have been because of her. They all could have been because she and Nikolai had been so focused on the Stag.
Nikolai saw the doubt creeping in and he stepped forward, his hand taking hers, squeezing it gently. It wasn't really her fault.
"I'm the reason we're all out here," he advised, gaze steady on Aleksander. "I sent trackers to find the Stag. I thought it well within my rights as Tsar. And if, as you say, General Kirigan, Alina would need power from the others of Morozova's creation, then we shall have to send trackers in search of those as well."
