Aleksander barely hid a grin though the Queen looked scandalized indeed, and the king gruff and angry at his son being called out. That wouldn’t do. He had to remain oblivious.
“I’m certain you must be mistaken, Alina,” he advised his pupil. “Surely the crown prince would have more respect for his title than to risk his reputation.” Or not.
“Apologies,” she answered, not looking a bit sorry. But she did sink into a deep curtsy. “I hope my appearance will be more than acceptable this evening. I learned so much from the Queen when I first arrived that I’m sure I shall be more than presentable.”
