Whenever Lucien Vanserra visited the Night Court, and more importantly, the Townhouse, House of Wind, or River House, Elain made herself as scarce as possible. She had no desire to see the male who claimed to be her mate. Had no desire for a relationship, even if having a mate suited Feyre and now Nesta, it wasn't a life Lain wanted. The life she wanted had been cruelly taken from her, she wanted a husband--a man--not a mate, not a male, but--the mother, it would seem, didn't care what she wanted, and so, like a coward, Elain avoided him.
Today, however, she was not that lucky, Feyre and Rhys were down for a much needed nap, Nyx having been up all night fussing and wailing, and the Shadow Wraiths were in the kitchen preparing dinner, so when pounded on the River Hosue door sounded, Elain, holding a rather innocent looking Nyx who was dozing peacefully in her arms, went to open it, ready to berate whoever was pounding. So help them if they woke up Feyre and Rhys.
She took an involuntary step back however, at the site of the male on the threshold.
"If you wake them or the babe, I'll bite your head off," she hissed. She had honestly never seen him in such a state--so...so upset. She recalled Feyre and Rhys mentioning over dinner the other night that Lucien had discovered some unsettling news about his heritage, but she hadn't thought to ask--maybe she should have.
