It was true. Demelza hadn't heard from Justin in a bit, but it was nothing she had done. Justin's birthday gift from Delphine had sat like a rock in his stomach just as he predicted it would have. So not only did he have a daughter in the future, but it was with a second wife or partner. Apparently things hadn't worked out with Eliza - or at least that's what Delphine's note had hinted at.
At first he was panicked, but after speaking with Susie and realizing that no matter what happened in 'his' future, who he was with or started a family with, on the island, he was with Demelza, and nothing Delphine threw at him would change that. Even if she sent visitors, he would take them as they came. After all, he had been strong enough to let Eliza go, he could do the very same should any other spouses show up. Should his daughter show up, well, Justin would love it if that happened and he couldn't see Demelza begrudging him being a doting father, no matter who the mother or parental figure was.
He was well aware of screwing up though, not contacting her until she'd been worried that she'd done something and it made him sick and angry with himself to make her feel like that. Justin headed over to the laundry, just as he said he would, fully prepared to explain. Honestly, it really had taken him a long time to come to terms with everything - he hadn't been ready to tell her, didn't have the words, but he did then.
So it was with his heart on his sleeve he walked into the laundry and hoped to Merlin she didn't hate him. If he was honest with himself, he was falling in love with her, but didn't dare say it. He walked over to where she was and smiled meekly, giving her a soft kiss and leaned his forehead against hers. "I'm so sorry I had made you worry, or feel like you've done something wrong. It's not the case, Demi. Truly."
