While Demelza had never been one to be afraid of hard work, for the second time in as many weeks she found herself watching the clock, waiting till she could leave work. While there weren’t always things to look forward to on the island, today was very different as she was going to meet one of closest friends dead father. While she knew it was silly to feel so nervous, she had spent the entire day unable to shift the tense knot in her stomach. In such a short tone, Justin had grown to be such an important part of her life and she really wanted to make a good impression.
Finally when closing time rolled round, Demi raced to flip the sign to closed on the front of the laundry and pulled the shutters down. Diving into the back room, she pulled a dress she had brought with her to change into out of her bag and laid it down on the side. Standing in front of the small mirror outback, she quickly tried her best to make her hair and face look more presentable after work. While she was hardly a vain person, it was moments like this that she would literally give anything to have her makeup bag from back home. After finally deciding that she looked presentable, she changed out of her work clothes, into a dress and sprayed a little of her perfume from her cracker on her, before heading out the laundry towards the diner.
When she got to the diner, she spotted the two Finch-Fletchley men pretty much straight away. It was funny, but his father didn’t look at all like she expected him to. His father seemed extremely confident and powerful, whereas Justin in contrast seemed so similar but so different. Approaching the booth, Demelza couldn’t help but let a large smile cross her face.
