James had managed to convince Sirius to stay and keep an eye on Lily and Violet when he popped into work for a few hours. After all, endless tiny nappies and clothes didn’t come especially cheap, and he really had no idea how much money he had left. He had his journal open beside him, ready to drop everything if Lily ordered him back, but for now he was sat on the floor, sliding new quills into their places on the bottom shelf. Plus he was exhausted. Turned out it was harder to bounce back from the Full Moon when you couldn’t nap until lunchtime the next day. In fact, perhaps he could just grab a few minutes kip here… or was that weird?
Sadly, James was saved making that decision by the sound of the bell above the door ringing. He looked up, listening to the sound of footsteps making their way between the shelves for a moment before finally piping up. “I’m over here!” he called out, reaching out to grab another handful of quills and sliding them into place. James smothered a yawn with the back of his hand, before reaching up to ruffle his thick, dark hair absently. “Let me know if you need anything, yeah?”
