Who: Jamie Potter What: Maturing? Where: Hut #16 When: Tuesday Evening Rating | Status: Low | Complete
He'd had the idea for a while now. Hugo's ex was on the island now, and Hugo wasn't exactly handling it well. At least, that was Jamie's assumption, based off of the bruises that his cousin had given him. But fighting with Hugo, when Jamie hated fighting, didn't seem like enough. He wanted to do something that might make Hugo feel a bit better, and so, his mind had automatically turned to his own little form of justice.
Thievery.
With everything going on, he hadn't been able to find a time to look for something to take from Steven. The fact that it was his hutmate's son - who he happened to be trying to win over - wasn't something that he really considered. It was just about Hugo and getting a little retribution. He had taken a dinner break from watching Grindelwald, and only meant to go grab something from the diner to bring back. However, he caught sight of Steven reading at a table, and knew that he probably wouldn't have much better timing than that.
With his food in hand, he made a detour to the huts, casting a glance around before he stepped into Steven's. There really wasn't much, since the other man had only been on the island for nearly a week, but still, it was worth a shot. A bit of poking around revealed a practically spartan existence, however. Beyond a hoodie and a flannel, which Jamie assumed that Steven had been wearing on his arrival, there was really only his toothbrush. Which would certainly be more missed than the clothing that was useless in this climate.
With the toothbrush in his free hand, he was about to slide it into the pocket of his shorts before he paused, biting his lip. The last time he had stolen something was from Hugo, and that had blown up in his face, rather spectacularly. He was still feeling the effects from it, with his current disagreement with Lilu. Did he think that this would have the same ramifications? No, definitely not. But that didn't mean he should do it. Getting away with it didn't make it alright for him to do.
Jamie let out a groan. Dammit. He hated feeling useless, and yet, that was exactly how he felt as he put the toothbrush back where he found it. He'd just... have to try and cheer up Hugo some other way, he supposed. He cast one look back over the hut, partially to see if he had left any sign of being there, and partially to make sure that he didn't want to just take something. It would be so much easier...
No. He let out a disgruntled sigh and made his way back to the prison and Grindelwald. He'd just have to distract himself with a chat with a dark wizard, he supposed.
