Fred couldn't help the quick quirk at the corner of his lips at Lucy's reassurance of his wand. He appreciated that she understood him (and therefore it) on a deep enough level to know that it would respond best to that sort of encouragement. It was especially delightful given who her father was. How had the apple fallen so far? Then again, she'd cleaned up the vomit rather than leaving it as evidence, so she'd inherited some of Percy's responsibility.
"He's married?" he asked, the words barely out of his mouth before he heard a hollow thunk, Lucy's Ooops and a smack in quick succession. He had to turn around and walk backwards a few paces, careful not to hit Katie's head on anything, in order to see what Lucy was talking about, the smile wide on his lips even before he'd received confirmation. Fred's surprised laugh cracked out despite the seriousness of the situation. He had to stop a moment to regain his breath despite the increasing ache in his straining arms.
"I hope he has as hard a head as his father," he said when he was finally able to speak again, gasping for air between words. They were nearly there, the building visible between the trees. "You could've told me. We could've walked along the path!" But they were here now. There was hardly any point anymore. "You need glasses?"
