It was certainly a long way from Hogwarts, but the classroom was pleasant in its own way. It was located on the ground floor of the new school building, with large windows where you could see the sea crashing onto the beach. There was a blackboard, a cupboard full of textbooks and supplies… Finally there were several desks which Albus had mostly pushed up against the back wall, choosing instead to shove a few together to create a cluster in the middle of the room. It seemed ridiculous for him to be preaching to a sea of empty chairs, after all.
The sun had set several hours ago, although rain was still pattering against the walls and roof. Albus pulled his lamp closer, trying to cast the book he had open in a better light. Spell crafting was not a subject he had a huge amount of knowledge in. He’d dabbled when he was at school, but once he had graduated it had fallen by the wayside a little. Still, Mr Potter had suggested it. Albus hoped one of the benefits of having a small class, especially on this island, would be being able to build a more tailored curriculum.
Speaking of… his blue gaze flicked to another roll of parchment at his elbow. He’d been doing his best to put together something that Ariana might agree to be taught. His sister was so afraid of her own magic, and getting her into a classroom was proving almost impossible. Perhaps if he added some of this into there… He reached for the paper, but paused when a knock sounded at the door.
“Come in,” he replied absently, pulling the page towards him and squinting at his own untidy writing.
