Not allowed to go anywhere. Not allowed to leave the country, or the state, or hell even the five Burroughs. Jeri Hogarth had told her that as long as she didn't try to flee the country, things might actually go in her favor. Jessica thought that was a load of shit, but she wasn't going to take off. There was nothing more to panic about, except the whole going to jail thing. Even if she did get convicted of murder, she thought that prison might not be that bad for someone like her.
She had barely spoken to Luke since she had gotten rid of Kilgrave. Trish came by to make sure that she was still around, and not starving or dead or whatever. She was pretty sure that Trish was monitoring her and telling things to Hogarth, but she hadn't brought it up to her. Mostly she just had been sticking to her office, drinking too much and picking up cases. She went out every night, taking pictures of people, doing god knew what to other people. Tonight though, she was stuck on her computer, trying to look things up and call people on the phone. Anything to make a buck. A buck to get more booze.
The rest of her neighbors must have thought that Jess had a thing for hot black guys, since they constantly were showing up at her door. She was currently sitting with her feet up on her desk, a bottle of Jack was on her desk and she had been half asleep when there was a knock at the broken door. Then a voice she didn't recognize. What time was it? Christ. Afternoon. The sun was still out. Great. She couldn't even bitch that people were showing up unannounced too late in the night. That meant that it would be hard to get rid of him.
Getting up to her feet, and wobbling slightly, Jessica started for the door, though not before taking a drink from her bottle. James Rhodes. Why was that name familiar? She probably would have realized it, if she had been sober. But she wasn't.
Wincing at the daylight, she opened the rest of the broken door. Yeah, she had to get that fixed. Again. "Yeah? You found her. The Department of Defense? Look, I don't know what it is that you want, but I'm already on trial. Don't know what more the government wants."
