Turning her hand under his, she linked their fingers together as she had so many times in the past. She was trying very hard to ac like this was alright, but nothing about this entire situation was okay in any way. One of the parts that bothered her the most was that he continued to talk about her in the past tense. But she smiled a little, anyway, when he said she and Nathan both were in his heart...though it meant he considered her as lost as Nathan was.
As he gathered himself, she could pick up on the fact that he was about to tell her something incredibly difficult, and her smile slipped away. The moment he said Emma's name, she froze, her eyes hardening a little and hand growing cold beneath his. Her fingers were stiff as she drew it away the moment he said he'd fallen in love with the blonde.
She was on the verge of asking if he still loved Emma, when he confirmed it by stating flat out that he was in love with both of them. Her eyes narrowed slowly as she met his gaze, and it seemed as though the air itself around them was holding its breath, causing even dust motes in the air to pause in their paths.
"Was my side of the bed even cold before she was in it?" The question was harsh, and it was rhetorical. An unhealthy amount of rage warred with pain, building inside her, and she stood abruptly, phone and towel falling forgotten to the floor.
"So you moved on in more ways than one. And Emma Frost got exactly what she always wanted."
