Of talent scouts and professional agents, Maddy didn’t have much opinion. Her professional work lived behind the scenes; otherwise, the illusion died. The art she created for personal fulfillment might make its way into galleries or performance spaces, but not in front of a camera. As such, her reasons for attending the video shoot at Zedd’s house were simple: she liked all parties, most people, there was plenty of alcohol, and it gave her an occasion to doll up.
Before entering the property, she paused in a semi-private spot nearby to retrieve a joint, spark it with a treasured silver lighter, and get a little bit high. If she was going to get popped for possession, she’d rather it be under a random tree one someone else’s lawn than at a high profile party. Once she mellowed out, she followed the appropriate security measures to enter and meandered until she found a cocktail and a place to perch on a stool overlooking the pool.
She caught a clear ball being bounced around and tossed it back into the water.
