“I can actually imagine that,” George smiled. “I seem to remember you not being the most tidy of people at Hogwarts. After seeing the state of the common room, I dread to think what your doom room was like!”
He’d missed this. Just hanging around with a friend and the teasing that usually happened. It had been too long since he’d really felt the slightest amount of happiness. He watched Angelina sit down on the couch before she started laughing and pointing. Most guys would be embarrassed at what she had discovered but he really didn’t care and laughed it off.
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” he winked.
George went and sat on the spot on the couch that Angelina had been patting, enjoying the feeling of being with one of his best mates. Then came the question he’d been dreading.
“This and that.” George said with a shrug. “Mostly shop work. It’s been really busy this summer.”
He knew that he was missing out a lot of stuff, and he knew he wasn’t being very convincing but how do you say to someone that the truth was you’d been moping around for weeks before going back to work and the only reason you were continuing to work was to try and feel normal. Carry on like you had been before all this mess happened. Throwing yourself into your work in an attempt to make you forget. That it’s a struggle to get up in the morning because you’re wracked with guilt because you weren’t there, and you feel like you’re missing a limb because he‘s not here. That sometimes he wished that it had been him instead.
