Four months had passed since George had last seen Angelina, although in some ways it had seemed much longer. He’d missed her like crazy and had been meaning to write, or pop in and see her but he’d been distracted, and if he was being honest, he’d been too scared to. Seeing Angelina standing there in his doorway had shocked him, he hadn’t known that she’d drop by like this but it was a good shock. George felt a bit silly. How could he have been so scared about seeing her? She was one of his best mates! They’d spent many hours in each others company over the years.
Before he realised what was happening, Angelina had dropped her bags of shopping and had reached up and hugged him. George tensed for a moment before relaxing and hugging her back. It felt good and for a moment he wondered why he’d pushed everyone close to him away, not even allowing his own mother to get that close. George let go and stepped back with a small smile on his face.
“It’s great to see you, Ang. Do you want to come in?”
George looked guiltily at the mess he called home as he waved Angelina in. The flat was a dump at the moment. Clothes littered all over the floor and furniture, the remains of last nights takeaway still on the little table over by the window and various different products in varying states of completeness everywhere.
“Sorry about the mess, I wasn’t really expecting company.” George apologised awkwardly.
