Dinner had been a quiet affair for Astoria, mostly because she had eaten as early as possible in order to avoid the crowds. Although dinner was normally a wonderful time to watch others she didn't feel up to seeing the dejected faces of students disappointed and angry about the Quarantine. She was angry enough herself, especially with the knowledge that things would get worse. Some people were trying to be optimistic but they were oblivious to Sorin's visions. They scared her. A lot.
She found that the best distraction, as always, were the paintings. It was a bit silly of her to have conversations with them but she was firm in her opinion that they were good company - most of them, at least. She'd spent the better part of an hour discussing literature with a painting of a Victorian wizard who resided on the 2nd floor. He had many things to say and took great offense to today's society, which according to him, was completely scandalous. It was an amusing conversation so she was sad to see him go for a meeting with another painting of the female persuasion. Astoria was sure he didn't find that scandalous at all. Not that paintings could manage to...could they?
It was with this ridiculous and amusing thought in mind that Astoria headed back towards the Great Hall. She was in a much lighter mood than before, although not completely better. She wouldn't be for some time. But she did make an effort to control the negativity flitting about her.
Her steps hastened when she saw Julian stepping out of the Great Hall. He was taking it slow, it seemed, which she was grateful for - running around was a bit too undignified for her taste. "Julian," she called out when she was within his hearing range. She was actually in the mood for company and he'd certainly do. "How are you?"
