Who: Julian + Sally + Astoria What: A casual conversation Where: Outside of the Great Hall When: Monday night, after dinner Rating: PG Status: In Progress
The one bad thing about putting sugar on everything Julian ate was that it left the unpleasant teeth fuzz afterward. Though it didn't annoy him enough to stop putting the sweet grains on anything that touched his plate, it was enough of a nuisance that he'd usually run back to the Slytherin common room just to brush his teeth; if he didn't have enough time, he'd tongue it all through class and brush as soon as he could. It wasn't so much he cared about good dental hygiene as much as it just plain bothered him.
Having had the habit of placing sugar on his food for many years, Julian had become a master of being able to subtly feel his teeth without the unsightly tell-tale bulge of his tongue pressing against his lip. This trait had been one he had to perfect: as the son of two prominent Ministry officials, it seemed as though the spotlight was on him just as much as him. His habits had gained enough attention, and he'd rather not have one bad photograph of him finding it's way into the press. Not that he really had to worry about that at Hogwarts, but it never hurt to be careful.
Especially considering he was a Slytherin, where the spotlight seemed to be even more focused.
Ambling out of the Great Hall, Julian for once was not greatly annoyed with the teeth fuzz, though that might have been because he had indulged in a big helping of stew rather than a variety of other foods. He felt he could take things slow now, and really take in the place he had been living at for the past six years. The castle did seem different at night - even the interior parts, where no windows gave glimpses into the outside world.
It was rather interesting, he had to admit. There weren't as many students milling about, most of them having gone back to their respective common rooms or still lingering in the Great Hall, and what few were in the halls were ones he only vaguely recognized.
