See, this is why they were friends. It had never occurred to him that there could be levels of heroes; he had learned from childhood that they were superheros and that was that, but clearly Desiree was on to something here. "I have never heard of a great, okay, or novice hero, but I think you've got a brilliant idea there. We should make it happen," he answered brightly, passing the comics to her.
"But before our plotting, I shall give you a briefest of overviews on superheros," he declared, unable to hide the excitement in his voice. Ward was not so secretly a giant nerd. He had grown up with comics and Star Wars and various other things that most wizards had never heard about, and he had never really grown out of it. Growing up was overrated anyway.
"Okay, so basically they're people with some extraordinary power who use said power to, like, save the world and shit. They usually also keep their superhero side hidden and pass as regular people when they're not off saving the day. Superman is basically the quintessential superhero, and he was born on this other planet but raised human and he can do everything. Flight, super speed, super stretch every-fucking-thing. But there are others like Spiderman, who start off as regular people. He was bitten by a radioactive spider, and he can climb walls and shoot out spiderwebs from this device thing he created. But, yeah, superheros is a really broad category."
