"Um," Jamie stammered, his cheeks turning crimson. "Yeah, yeah that's what I meant. Sorry. I'm not the best at things like this. It kind of sucks to go alone, you know? I mean, I didn't come down here with the intention of getting a date, but if you want to go with me, that's - that's great."
And oh God, if he didn't shut up soon, Luna was going to throw something heavy at his head. Hopefully it would kill him if she did, because he was mortified. It sounded as though he was saying he didn't really want to go with her, more like he was asking her out of pity than anything, but that wasn't the case. Really! Luna was a fantastic girl, it was just that Jamie was nervous and shy and talked too much. He fidgeted uncomfortably in the chair and made a weird face, hoping she didn't think he was a complete idiot.
