Sorin laughed. It was something he did so rarely that the sound came out rusty, as though that part of his voice hadn't been used for a long time. In truth, it hadn't. There wasn't much to laugh about where he came from. Nor were most of his visions amusing, at least not anymore.
"Yes," he answered. "But do not ask who. It is not for me to tell."
He knew. Oh yes, he knew. And keeping the knowledge a secret didn't bother him at all.
"Do not be sorry. There is nothing you can do," he said quickly. "I suppose everyone wishes to be normal, when they are different, and those who are normal wish to be different. Is that not the way of things? I hate them - " Would he say too much here? "I hate them for making me vulnerable. For stealing the surprise from my life. For stealing my family's respect. I don't know. When they are good, I don't mind them as much. And the other aspects of Divination are not so bad."
