When she didn't step closer, Ioan tucked his fingers in the belt loops of his jeans and smiled. He wasn't stupid and had no intentions of pushing his luck. So far, she hadn't hexed him or walked away, and that was good, wasn't it? That was more along the lines of what he deserved, and she wasn't the only one he expected to be on the fence about his return.
"I was an idiot, Romilda," he said, his voice sure. "I've been so messed up since last year and I made the decision without thinking it through. I know there's no way to make it up to you, what I did, but I hope we can...at least still be friends, if your, if your feelings have changed."
And he wouldn't blame her for that. They didn't know each other well and he'd made a huge mistake that would likely affect his entire life, at least for a short while. Ioan was suddenly very glad his parents were Muggles, as he likely would have received a large number of howlers by now.
