Romilda felt herself holding her breath as his thumb brushed over her cheek. It was such a small touch and so gentle that she barely felt it, but it made her heart pound in her chest so hard that Romilda was certain Ioan could hear it.
She was telling herself not to get excited. She told herself, quite sternly, that there was no reason to be so happy now that he came back. He had left without warning and it hurt like hell. But now he was here and he was sorry and, well.. telling him that she had been upset seemed like a waste of time now that he was back.
"A few times, actually." Her pride wasn't going to let her step any closer and she hated that. She wanted a hug and she wanted to hold his hand and Romilda hated her feet for not moving closer to him.
"I did understand. But I missed you. I know I shouldn't have missed you as much as I did, but I did."
