Desiree nodded slowly in response. “I had no idea, which is odd since you’d expect to see it from outside.” Despite being in Slytherin, Desiree had nothing against speaking with strangers. She knew most her housemates kept to themselves and other Slytherins, but Desiree liked branching out. Of course, that likely had to do with Desiree’s obsession for attention. She didn’t like to be the centre of attention, but Desiree certainly enjoyed undivided attention from both males and females. But who didn’t, really?
A soft smile spread across Desiree’s lips when Ernie kissed her hand. Merlin, that was new. And sweet. Desiree thought she might just get along with this Ernie quite well. "You as well," Desiree returned.
Ernie's laugh was contagious, and Desiree found herself smiling once again. "Ah, sorry for making it so obvious. I'm from Slytherin," Desiree said, a bit wearily. It wasn't exactly a secret Slytherin tended to loathe all other houses. There was always a chance Ernie would choose to turn away, but weren't Hufflepuffs the accepting? Or something along those lines? Desiree really should start listening in the sorting ceremonies!
