Ernie blushed when she jumped and he muttered an apology to her. He hadn’t meant to startle her of course, he was just attempting to be friendly, he hadn’t gone out of his way to talk to anyone other than his housemates in a long while. He managed to offer her a small smile, getting a good look at her for the first time. She looked like she was nice at least.
“This is one of my favorite hallways, people rarely come up her despite the view… I don’t even know if half the school knows its here.” Ernie said with a smile, of course he was sure that people did know where it was, they just rarely took the time to admire it. It was his little sanctuary. He took her hand gently and kissed it lightly. His mother had trained him that way, to be old fashioned and polite. “I’m Ernie Macmillan.” He told her grinning, “It’s nice to meet you, Desiree.”
He looked at her curiously when she started squinting at him, did he have something on his teeth? He followed her line of sight to where his prefect badge normally hung. “oh, I’m a Hufflepuff if that’s what you are trying to figure out.” He chuckled softly.
