Ernie had some free time but he had very little desire to return back to the common room in any hurry. He had yet to find the name of a nearby bakery to give to Justin, and at this point he was really just hoping that he would forget about it. He had ventured back to the common room long enough to drop off his books before moving back out into the twisting hallways of the school. His feet took him to one of his favorite places, the hallway of windows. He often wandered up there to lose himself in the view, with some parchment and a quill he did his homework there, or he just let himself think when the common room was hectic.
He froze when an unfamiliar person was pressing against the glass. He was pleased to see that she was enjoying the view as much as he did. He didn’t know what he should do, part of him wanted to say something to the girl he didn’t know, and the other half of him wanted to walk past and let her be alone with the world and keep him from embarrassing his self. He looked at her, smiled and took a deep breath.
“The view is really rather lovely, isn’t it.” He said softly, coming up to the glass next to her and looking down at the grounds.
