Harry wrinkled his nose as he approached the crates holding the huge baby spiders behind Hagrid's Hut. His spider's crate was on the bottom, four crates over from the edge. Other student's spiders were looking a bit scraggly. He supposed that with the fog, few made their way over here to care for the creatures other than Hagrid, and the grounds keeper couldn't care for all the spiders as much as he loved them.
In a box that had been charmed by the current headmaster was enough meat to feed all of the hungry spiders. The meat was raw, and a bit squishy, when Harry reached in to grab a pink fillet. He never questioned the content of the meat. For all he knew it could be Unicorn or Centaur, rather than beef. Heaven forbid it was something, or someone, else. Harry didn't want to go down that path, but he did wonder what happened to Lavender's body.
He held the fillet out as far from him as possible, his hand becoming red from the blood of the meat.
"Here, Spider." He said gently kneeling down to open the crate and toss in the meat. His spider moved back further into the crate as he threw it in, and tried to rush out the door before Harry closed it. A furry leg stuck itself out of the door.
A squeal came from the next crate as the spider in there smelt the meat in his spider's cage. Harry wondered when the last time was that the spiders had been fed. With a sigh, he went back to the ice box and grabbed a few more fillets.
He opened the first crate, and threw the meat in. The spider attacked the meat with a furios growl. Harry's eyes widened as he slammed the door shut and opened the next crate.
