By the time Stan got to dinner, Millicent was already gone. He picked at his chicken half-heartedly; his stomach was knotted a little with tension. He left before long, and walked slowly to the Boleyn Room. Anne gave him a bit of a fish eye for the interruption, but Stan barely noticed.
When he saw it was only Millicent inside, he practically breathed a sigh of relief. "Hey," he said, coming to sit beside her on the next squishy cushion over. Stan was all nerves over having to face people who were probably angry at him for bringing the complication of Oliver Wood into their midst. Stan had never been one of them to start with and this only made it worse.
