Wales. It was the only place Taff could think of going.
He couldn't stay here, and if he went home to Tristan, his brother would call him an idiot and drag him back he was sure. Tristan had made it clear Taff wasn't welcome to stay there until he finished school.
He couldn't stay here.
Wales was the only other place that felt even vaguely like home. The Rivers brothers' time in the foster home in Wales hadn't been a long one, but it'd been a nice one and it'd left his mark. His nickname had stuck with him. And now he was looking for some sort of sign, he was more than willing to accept that his nickname was an indication that he should go to Wales, to the River Taff, and find somewhere there he could live. After 6 months or so it'd be too late to be returned to Hogwarts, so he could go back to Tristan, bear his brother's anger for a while and then they'd be able to stay together.
But first thing was first.
He'd promised Daphne he'd at least try a week, but he didn't want to wait. He wanted to go now, whilst he had the guts. So he'd packed enough clothes and things into his backpack in secret and waited till everyone was in bed before sneaking out. He'd already visited the kitchens to get some food for the journey, so as far as he was concerned he was all set.
His plan was simple. Go to the broom closet by the Quidditch pitch, steal a broom (it was the only way, he'd return it later) and then he could fly away into the night. At least until he got somewhere where he could catch the Knight Bus to Wales.
Simple plan. He didn't even really need to be careful. What would it matter if some prefect caught him out of bed? He'd be gone, so detention was hardly a threat.
He walked towards the main doors without looking back. Goodbye old life. Goodbye memories.
Goodbye fear...
