Romilda could say she was thinking of Ioan all she wanted, Hermione could see no proof of it. Not once did she see his face flash by, a smile, anything. She was sure Romilda remembered his face, who he was, but it wasn't working. Maybe she was doing it wrong.
Hermione wished she could stop the memories from flashing by her uncontrolled, but there was nothing she could do for it. The book had said that the memories weren't gone, they were simply hidden; that memories couldn't be removed completely because they were all interconnected, like in a web.
"Do you have a class with him?" she asked, hoping just the suggestion of such a situation might bring him to mind. That would help to connect the dots.
