Hermione took a moment to swallow the words she wanted to spit at Romilda.
"I didn't mean to sound condescending," she said, having sensed that the girl was being short with her about that. Just the way the other girl had said 'yes, I understand' seemed... Hermione sighed. Did it really matter what the girl thought of her? She just wanted this done and over with so that they could both return to their lives. This wasn't supposed to be an experiment in bonding.
"Close your eyes. I'm just going to take the memories from wherever they are right now and return them to you. Deep breaths... Think about Ioan. About how you think he made you feel when you read the journal entries." Hermione gave her a few moments to get into the spoke the words of the first sequence of spells, opening Romilda's mind to reception.
She could still feel the bed below her where she sat, the book in her lap and the wand in her hand, and though she could still see everything around them, it appeared to have dimmed. Images and feelings flashed by her without the semblance of rhyme or reason. The book had said it would be very much like opening doors or drawers, but Hermione had never felt so disoriented in her life. She was looking for something that was missing in a place she'd never visited before. It was so much harder to put memories back than it was to take them away.
"Are you thinking about Ioan? That should make this easier." Her voice sounded so weird like this. She could only imagine what it felt like for Romilda.
